Two "Overall Score" options are available within your hiring system: Automatic or Manual. Your Overall Score selection can be updated at any time but may impact how information is displayed on existing applicants and their respective scores.
Note: Prior to changing, it is strongly suggested to review the potential impact of changing your Overall Score (as it is a system-wide setting and applies to all positions/applicants).
Automatic Overall Score (default scoring option)
This option automatically generates an overall applicant score. To activate, navigate to Admin > Settings > Scoring and select Automatic.
The following list of automated position elements will appear: Hard Skills, Soft Skills, Virtual Interview, Warehouse Test, and any Auto-Scored custom elements. Simply check the desired element(s) you wish to be included in an applicant’s Overall Score and click Save.
How Automatic Scoring is Determined
Automatic Overall Score is determined on which position template elements are actively used (selected) within your position template. Since position elements can be created in a variety of ways, it's also possible for there to be variations in what is displayed within your Applicant Queue.
The most common Overall Score is Hard Skills + Soft Skills + Virtual Interview.
The Hard and Soft Skills elements are the only two elements in the hiring system that come in pre-scored with a displayed percentage at time of application submission (the only exception is an automatic scoring Custom Element, an advanced feature). The Virtual Interview combines to generate the Overall Score, but must manually be scored first - until the Virtual Interview is scored by a User, it will reflect "Pending" as it's individual score and the Overall Score will also reflect "Pending."
Let's look at an example Applicant Queue:
In the above image, we can see this position template is using two key pre-screening elements: Hard Skills and Virtual Interview. Since Soft Skills is not included with the position template, it is not displayed or factored into this position's Overall Score. Hard Skills come in with a pre-scored percentage displayed, but the Virtual Interview questions do not. Once the Virtual Interview is individually/manually scored, and our system is set to "Automatic Overall Score," it automatically combines the Hard Skills and Virtual Interview to generate the Overall Score. This helps illustrate the strengths and weaknesses of each candidate head-to-head to enhance applicant processing and prioritization.
Manual Overall Score
To manually create an Overall Score, navigate to Admin > Settings > Scoring and select Manual.
A drop-down menu will appear with manual scoring methods that have been created in your system. Select a method and click Save. This will be the scoring method for all applicants in the system.
To create or modify Scoring Methods, follow the path of Library > Picklists > Scoring.
How Manual Scoring Is Determined
The individual scoring method for elements remains the same; your Hard Skills and Soft Skills elements will always come in pre-scored and your Virtual Interview will always come in as "Pending" until manually scored. With Manual Overall Scoring, however, you must manually click on the "Unscored" option within the Overall Score column. You will then be provided the list of Scoring options you've defined. After making your selection, the Overall Score will update and remain applied until you or another User manually change the Overall Score once more.
Removal of Average Score
Please note that "Average Score" has been removed from the system. The Average Score was once the average of Hard Skills, Soft Skills, and Virtual Interview, but did not include auto-scored custom elements in its equation. To replicate the Average Score equation, simply choose Hard Skills, Soft Skills, and Virtual Interview to comprise your automatic Overall Score.
Note: Selection(s) made in the Admin > Settings > Scoring will apply to all users throughout the system. The Scoring tab is accessible to all users whose User Role settings switch has been activated in their User Role profile.
